Run don’t walk to your nearest IHOP, for today is Free Pancake Day, don’t you know.
Complimentary circular orbs or buttery goodness with syrup should probably be enough incentive toss your coat on and glide out the door. But the fact that the experience gives you the opportunity to make a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network will make the snarfing opportunity truly worthwhile.
Grab your forks and go, web chums!

“Drop it!” I shouted as I dove under the bed.
“Drop it now!”
His eyes narrowed and he defiantly refused.
It was all very dramatic, I tell you.
On a normal day this might have just been an instance of the house pets and I reenacting our favorite episode of Law and Order.
But since it was Valentines Day it meant that the gassy but loveable kittyman was secretly snacking on the lovely red roses that my gentleman caller had given me.
The cat absconded with a mouthful of petals the minute he was caught in the act. Not wanting him to choke or get sick I made several vain attempts to carefully tackle him and remove the flora.
It took a few tries but he was ultimately safely apprehended, though angry at me for taking away his delicious seasonal snack.
On the plus side at least when he belched in my face at 4am it smelled better than usual…

Yesterday whilst toddling through Bed, Bath and Beyond I spied a “GeMagic” in the clearance aisle! This piece of infomercial finery allows you to create fanciful and dazzling studded clothing, accessories and housewares. It comes with a bunch of pattern transfers, 300 studs and a “mini magic” so you can attach rhinestones in hard to reach areas like pockets. Visions of creating dazzling dog sweaters and cat collars danced in my head. Surely the fur-enabled would appreciate looking like Liberace’s furry accomplices?
I threw it into the shopping cart.
Between the final clearance price and my 20% off coupon it wound up being under $5. Groovy. Sign me up!
I ran home eager to experiment with the new toy, filled with fond memories of my 7th grade “Bedazzler”, a similar product that I used back in the day to decorate a silver foil belt and the matching shoes. Ah, 1986.
This time around I decided to practice on an old pocketbook. With fringe. Because as we all know, nothing goes better with a leather fringe pocketbook from days gone by than plenty of colorful rhinestones.
Here’s how it turned out.

What a hoot! It is both endearing and vaguely horrifying, though perfect for the next time I want to be an 80s chick for a costume party or need an impromptu gift for a transvestite with bad taste.
On the plus side, the “Mini Magic” was very easy to use and worked pretty well. It did in fact firmly attach the studs to the bag and the rhinestones are of a decent quality. Plus you can buy gobs of additional studs and stones on Ebay for a song. This is certainly a funsy crafting medium and what better way to entertain yourself on a rainy day than to decorate your bra and bloomers with bling?
Overall verdict: Two big sparkly “as seen on TV” thumbs up!
