April Flowers…

The sunny windows at my new hut have done wonders for the cactus. Some, like this one, have already begun flowering. :)

DIY Fridge Decoration

I came across a nifty DIY article that details how to wallpaper your refrigerator. Apparently you attach the wallpaper to the fridge with rubber cement, which makes it fairly easy to remove and a good solution for renters who can’t make permanent changes to their huts. How groovy is this idea? While they used some lovely designer wallpaper you could probably find something funky and fetching at Home Depot, Lowes or your local wallpaper shop, too. If you go through those wallpaper books you can find pretty much everything from a fine leopard print to velvet flocked goodness.

Another fun way to adorn the fridge might be to decorate with Blick Decals. If you don’t want something permanent they have a line of removable and reusable graphics in addition to their regular line. The giant robots are particularly fetching. :)

A long story. Part three. A happy conclusion!

I totally fell in love with the last hut that we looked at.

An urban loft with 18 foot ceilings. 14 foot windows.

Tons of space.

Exposed brick in the bedrooms and living room. Wooden plank ceilings and lots of weird closets with tiny windows inside.

Best of all it’s on the top floor which means that there are no upstairs neighbors! So I’d never have to listen to 7am on a Saturday vacuuming, dogs howling or happy dolphin mating noises from above ever again.

It’s in an old building that was renovated into living spaces so it still retains oodles of the original charm.

And it’s fantastically unique.

So I put down a deposit on it and a few days later, picked up the keys and started moving in.

Giddyness abounds!

There hasn’t really been much time to unpack let alone take gobs of pictures or decorate but I did want to fork over a brief tour of some of the hut because I’m all aflutter.

Here’s a small corner of the living room with my IKEA dinette set.

This is the entryway and some closets. You can sort of see the bathroom in the photo but not really.

From the doorway of a small bedroom. The closets go from the floor to the ceiling. Some of them have shelves and others don’t. They’ll be perfect for holding craft supplies and since there are wee windows on top they can even hold a houseplant or two. :)
