Aerogarden obtained!

aerogarden

Through the combined miracle of a department store gift card and birthday cash from my Momma I’ve managed to scomp up an aerogarden!

Oh, how I have been coveting one of these ever since I saw it advertised on quality programming six months ago.

The notion of desktop hydroponics was of particular interest since my current hut lacks outdoor space and I seriously miss growing fresh herbs and tomatoes. While I do have two of those super fun tiered indoor greenhouses it seems to take forever and ten minutes to grow basil from seed in them, you know?

So.

This weekend I finally skedaddled over to JC Penny and picked out a lovely white aerogarden, followed the directions and if all goes according to plan the seeds should begin sprouting in the next week or so.

For the first attempt I just used the herb kit that it came with. With any luck in a few weeks I’ll be dazzled by two kinds of basil, parsley, chives, mint, thyme and dill!

Next on the aerogarden agenda: Ordering one of their fancy pants master kits that lets you use your own seeds with their growth pods. Year-round heirloom dwarf tomatoes and lettuces here we come!

Welcome little friend…

I am pleased to announce that this weekend a new fur-enabled companion joined the family. :)

Our little chum was a stray that someone was nice enough to rescue and bring to the animal shelter. She’s a mixed breed domestic shorthair with grey and black tiger markings. Clean bill of health, first round of shots and bonus, she’s already been spayed which means we don’t have to have a chat about the birds and the bees. It also means that there are no photographs of her in the infamous post-op “head cone” for me to show her prom date down the road.

So far her hobbies include chasing the middle aged kittyman around the house at high speed, chewing on my hair and using the bathroom towels as an interactive swing set.

She is estimated to be 11 to 12 weeks old.

Without further ado I would like to introduce you to Lucy!
