DIY Travel Embroidery Case

There’s a really interesting craft challenge on Craftster where you have to embroider two pillowcases with the theme of ying and yang. Interesting! And the prizes are pretty darn fantastic which makes me want to give this challenge a whirl. Of course the most ambitious embroidery project I’ve ever completed was back in grade 8 when I crudely embroidered lopsided eyes onto the country kistch dolls I made in Home Economics class. No matter, I have an idea that just might work so it’s certainly worth a shot.

So I scomped up some embroidery floss, needles and folding scissors and found a totally 1970s book that explains how to do basic stitches. So I should be ready to roll. I also repurposed a small plastic container that chewing gum came in into a carrying case. The plastic cover that advertised the brand peeled right off and left a plain white vessel with a flip top lid.

What’s nice is that the top is clear so you can see the contents.

And if you wanted to be all fancypants and creative with your recycled embroidery case the sides could always be painted or decoupaged.

Better than a bento box and only $3.99!

I was sashaying through the local supermarket when I spotted what I thought were ice packs with fanciful designs on them. It wasn’t until I picked it up that I realized it was something *way* better…a small round divided snack holder! With a pink unicorn and matching castle on the front!

And as if my inner five year old wasn’t giddy enough already it came with a small ring shaped ice pack inside as to keep snack products appropriately chilled. The divider was also removable in case the yummy goodies inside needed more room. There’s even a little clip in case you want to attach it to a purse, backpack or lunchbox.

I grabbed up it quickly before the screaming boogie fingered toddler sitting in a shopping cart nearby managed to coerced her Mother into buying it.

It’s made by a company called Fit and Fresh. Their website is www.fit-fresh.com and don’t you know, they have all sorts of peachy keen products, though most are noticably lacking unicorns and heart shaped castles. Oh well. I’m still on a quest to find their salad shaker and the lunch on the go set anyway…
